Exploring a relationship with SoundView Advisors
 
Initial contact
Prospective clients interested in working with SoundView can:

In response to your initial contact, a member of our operations staff will be in touch to obtain basic contact information, make sure you were able to locate the information you needed about our firm (or offer basic materials in hard copy), and address any preliminary questions you may have about our practice. Next, we’ll explain how to arrange for a “get acquainted” teleconference with one of our planners, outline the advance preparation we request, and schedule you for such a conference if you’re ready to proceed.

Preparing for the Get Acquainted teleconference
In order to make good use of our time and yours during the get acquainted teleconference, we need to understand the basics of your family and financial situation, your current level of satisfaction with various aspects of your financial life, and upcoming life transitions that may have financial implications you want to address. To enable us to do this, we ask that you tell us a bit about yourself using three questionnaires: a Confidential Questionnaire you can complete on our secure web site, a Financial Satisfaction Survey, and a Life Transitions survey.

Depending on the number of “moving parts” in your financial life, this preparation should require between less than an hour and no more than two hours of your time. We do value your time and make every attempt to have this process be as efficient as possible. At the same time, we love to hear prospective clients tell us, as they often do, that simply pulling this information together for us has provided significant help to them – even before they’ve become a client!

The Get Acquainted teleconference
With the information you’ve provided, we’ll be ready to assess with you – in about a 30 minute conversation with one of our financial planners – whether we may be a good “fit” for your current needs. Our goal is to help you find a resource which can most appropriately address your needs – whether that’s us or another firm in the community. If we agree that SoundView is a good fit for your needs, we’ll continue moving forward by providing the required disclosure documents as well as an advisory agreement for your review. We’ll also be in touch to schedule a “Confirmation” meeting.

Confirmation meeting
This face-to-face meeting takes place at the SoundView office (in either Olympia or Seattle – whichever you’ve indicated is more convenient for you) and will give you an opportunity to meet both members of your primary client service team: your financial planner, and your client services coordinator. We plan for these meetings to last around 60 minutes, but we’ll take as much time as you need for us to address your questions, explain our processes and approach, discuss your concerns, and clarify what we expect from you, and what you can expect from us. At the conclusion of this meeting, clients are typically well-prepared to engage us and excited to get started on SoundView’s initial planning process, which we call “onboarding”.
