Nate Porter is Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and co-owner of SoundView Advisors. He brings nearly 15 years of operational and leadership experience, combining technical expertise, process design, and a deep commitment to people—both the team he leads and the clients the firm serves. Nate’s focus is on building systems that make complex work simple and sustainable, empowering SoundView’s advisors and support staff to serve clients with clarity and confidence.
Nate joined SoundView in 2016 as Operations Manager, having previously run his own IT hardware brokerage firm in Seattle, which he founded in 2011. Owning and growing a small business taught him the value of customer service, direct communication, and creative problem-solving—skills that continue to shape his approach today. He was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2017 and, in July 2021, became the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer. As a co-owner, he now oversees operations, compliance, technology, human resources, and process improvement, helping SoundView grow while maintaining its culture of humility, collaboration, people, and excellence.
Respected for his practical insight and systems-minded approach, Nate tackles challenges with both technical precision and genuine care for people. He believes strong operations start with trust and communication, often reminding his team that “clarity is kindness.” As CCO, his approach balances integrity and practicality—ensuring the firm’s compliance systems not only meet regulatory standards but also support a culture of honesty, adaptability, and learning.
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Nate lives in Tacoma with his wife and their two children. He loves movies, playing guitar, and gathering with friends over good food and long conversations. Recently, he taught his son to drive—an accomplishment he proudly calls one of his greatest.
